FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- Cabins ~ Boys and girls stay in separate cabins with their own bathroom, about 11 other students, and 1 teacher. Staff of the same gender are always available and present. Please bring a pillow and sleeping bag/bed roll/sheets.
- Showers ~ Students will take showers at the end of each day. They are connected to the cabins and very clean. Each shower has a curtain and a privacy curtain for the small, individual changing area. Please bring towels and toiletries.
- Medicine ~ All medicine must go through the nurses. "Health History" Forms must be filled out. The "Scheduled" medication form is only necessary if a student has medicine that must be taken. The "As Needed" medication form is only necessary if you wish for your child to have access to over-the-counter medicine/inhalers. The nurses are always in radio contact with teachers learning hikes. Teachers leading hikes have inhalers and EpiPens for your child. EpiPens used at school will be taken to camp. If your child would get sick while at camp, you will be expected to pick them up.
- Money ~ Camp fees go toward your child's experience. We want every child to go to camp; it is a wonderful experience. If paying for camp is a financial hardship, please contact Mrs. Psarros about scholarships. In addition, donations are appreciated and can be indicated on your child's payment form.
- Equipment List ~ Please use the equipment list to pack what is needed for camp. If you do not have all items, please inform your child's teacher; staff can help with items. Please do not go buy things on the optional section or brand new things for camp. Goodwill could be a great option. Please LABEL items.
- Discipline ~ We do have a three strike policy. It is uncommon, but if your child earns their third strike, you will be contacted to come to camp and pick them up.
- Supervision ~ A competent staff of teachers, nurses, and EMT-Trained camp personnel will be at camp to provide supervision 24 hours a day. Each WLIS camper will belong to a cabin and hiking group of 10-15 students; directed and managed by an assigned adult. At no time will a camper be alone/roaming around.
- Food Restrictions ~ We have had students in the past with various allergies and dietary restrictions. There has never been an issue. There is always plenty of food to choose from and nobody goes hungry :)
- If you have a dietary concern that is not medically relevant (Vegan/Vegetarian Choices), please jump straight to step 2!
- Step 1: Make contact with one of WLIS's nurses to discuss specific dietary needs that are allergy related. Beth Bangs and Chris Anderson may be reached at the school ~ Phone or Email: [email protected] or [email protected]
- Step 2: Contact Mrs. Julianna Yost of Camp Tecumseh via the link (https://www.camptecumseh.org/special-dietary-needs-form/) to discuss needs and options. She may be reached at [email protected]. She will contact you based on the info you provide on the link.
- Any other questions? Please contact Mrs. Reichart ([email protected]) or Mr. Harmon, camp director ([email protected])
